One sure-fire way is to follow a healthy diet, which equates to a healthy mindset. Having a positive mindset when you’re over 30 can be more challenging than it was when you were younger, so we need all the help we can get.

It may be a good idea to begin with a 5 km race and then build your way up to a full marathon. Let’s face it, these races are one heck of a long distance and therefore can feel unattainable at times - even for the best of runners. Months before the race even begins, you need to reassure yourself every morning and night that 'you can do it and you’re not going to fail'.Ī positive mindset is fundamental to running a long-distance race.Įven if you don’t feel like it, saying, "I can do it" out loud can help you build your confidence and eventually you will genuinely believe you can do it.ĭon’t be alarmed if you don’t think you can initially run the race because most people begin with this mentality. This is also a great way for over 30s to meet and make new, life-long friends. You can do this by joining a sports club or go onto Meetup and see if there are any long-distance running groups around your area. If you’re a little timid and shy, surrounding yourself with positive, like-minded people could also help you to break out of your shell. Instead, find groups who share similar interests and are happy and outgoing. Think of all the people who are negative and try your best to remove them from your life (sometimes, in certain circumstances, that’s not possible). When you surround yourself with positive people, you’re likely to have their positivity brush off on to you. As a result, I have compiled a list of different ways to help you create a positive mindset when running a race be it a marathon, half marathon, triathlon or just training for a race. It's not like some shows that thrive on laughter from people getting hurt, which is probably the main reason I like it.īen found this picture, which is extremely cute and appropriate since we've been playing a lot of Plants vs Zombies.Often, a negative or weak mindset can lead to runners either not even attempting a race or stopping midway in a race (just to clarify: this isn’t always the case). Definitely something to check out if you've had a hard day or need a laugh. Because of the fact that they don't need to say a lot, this show has been a hit in a lot of different countries, which is kind of neat. I kind of think that's part of what makes the show so unique. You can see some of them on this youtube vid. It's a bunch of harmless pranks, that frankly I'm impressed they were able to pull a lot of them off. One of the best shows ever made is called Just For Laughs. Probably not a great combination, but who knows, maybe I'm burning off all those calories from the laughter. I do feel bad sometimes for not being that "perfect" wife that cooks meals for her husband seven days a week.Īnywho for the stress, I like to eat junk food and watch funny things. Though I think we have enough leftovers in the fridge that maybe I won't have to cook tomorrow. On top of finding time to cook and go to work.
I know I'm leaving things out, I guess those are the main things and the things I have to do in like 7 hours. Let's see, right now on my "things to do" list: talk to a home insurance company, sign up for the insurance, let the lender know that is done, talk to the home inspector for a document that may end up saving money if he can provide it, pray the realtors and lenders and everyone involved can come up with a closing date for the house, get quotes from moving companies, pack up things, let the landlords know we're moving (they already know but we have to let them know when we have a closing date on the house), pick up as much overtime at work as possible. I know I put myself in these situations because of the fact that I don't take care of things right away. I get a lot on my plate, a lot on my mind, maybe I don't take care of things right away, I let it all pile up, and all of a sudden I feel overwhelmed. *Nancy and Polly are strictly fictional and are being used in the title solely for alliteration purposes :)
